On May 28, 2012 the Chicago Public Schools introduced the Lend Lease team, with teammates DSR Group, SPAAN Tech, Primera Engineers, Comprehensive Construction Consultants, and Rubinos & Mesia, as the new Construction Manager for their Capital Improvement Program.
City of Chicago, Mayor Rahm Emanuel recently announced the creation of the Chicago Infrastructure Trust. This program-- a joint venture with President William Clinton’s Global Initiative and the City of Chicago-- aims to use Public/Private Partnerships to fund public infrastructure projects.
SPAAN Tech, Inc has become a corporate member of the National Organization of Minority Engineers (NOME), which promotes the advancement of minority owned and operated engineering firms.
SPAAN Tech, Inc. has also joined the Milwaukee Water Council, an organization which develops educational programs to train and build partnerships “that cut across all sectors and geographic boundaries.” The Milwaukee Water Council is a national sustainability leader for “managing stormwater with green infrastructure, extracting renewable energy from waste products, and mitigating and adapting to climate change,” and over 100 representative entities from industry, academia, and government comprise its membership.
The American Consulting Engineers Council (ACEC) awarded SPAAN Tech, Inc. President, Smita N. Shah, the 2011 Community Service Award in recognition of her superlative civic involvement. The ACEC is a statewide association of engineering firms which provides representation, education, and promotion of consulting engineering interests. Each year, the organization not only recognizes outstanding community services, but also highlights noteworthy engineering projects throughout the state.
