JAWA 90” Water Main Design and Relocation

SPAAN Tech provided civil engineering, CADD services, and planning for the relocation of the 90-inch JAWA water line that supplies the residents of the northwest and western suburbs of Chicago. As the only potable water feed from the City of Chicago to the suburbs it serves, the JAWA water line and the its successful relocation was critically important to millions living in and around Chicago.

The water main relocation plan had to accommodate the construction of the new north runway at O'Hare International Airport and was part of the overall plan to allow for the construction of the new runway. The project's design presented a challenge as the new line for the water main had to be placed between the location of the new runway and the relocated creek system.
