On May 28, 2012 the Chicago Public Schools introduced the Lend Lease team, with teammates DSR Group, SPAAN Tech, Primera Engineers, Comprehensive Construction Consultants, and Rubinos & Mesia, as the new Construction Manager for their Capital Improvement Program.
The Capital Improvement Program (which is funded through a blend of state funds, City of Chicago TIF funds, and CPS bonds) includes the rehabilitation and maintenance of existing facilities as-well-as the construction of new schools, when appropriate. Its goal is to: address overcrowding, enhance educational programming, remedy major physical decay in the facilities, and improve accessibility and ADA compliance.
For this portion of the Capital Improvement Program, the Lend Lease team will be responsible for renovation and life safety work at over 100 CPS facilities throughout the city. The contract is for a 21-month assignment with three 1-year renewals.
“These investments will have immediate and significant impacts to help boost the achievement of thousands of students in every corner of the city,” said CPS Chief Executive Officer Jean-Claude Brizard. “We need to provide students with the tools and environments they need to be successful.”
